Colds Hate Positive People (and DAMN GOOD LOOKING LADIES!)

My November posting declared that "A Positive Attitude Could Change Your Life" Well take a look at what RealAge.com had to say about using a positive attitude to stay healthy. I copied this article from RealAge.com.

Dread colds? Then be a Little Miss Sunshine.

That's the word from researchers who tested the emotional outlook and immune-system capabilities of a group of adults. Cold viruses had a harder time taking hold in the people who had mostly positive things to say.

Apparently, emotions play a role in immunity. Positive thoughts not only help you steer clear of colds but also might make your colds milder if you do get sick. Good reasons to look on the bright side and to get help if you habitually feel negative, anxious, or depressed. Of course, thinking warm, fuzzy thoughts doesn't replace good ol' cold-killing facts. So follow these sniffle-stopping tips as well:

• Wash your hands frequently, especially if you spend time with someone who is sick. And keep hand towels separate to minimize the spread of germs.
• Avoid spending time with people who are newly sick; they are most infectious during the first few days of illness.
• Eat foods high in vitamin C
-- oranges, strawberries, and red bell peppers are good choices. Better yet, get a big boost of vitamin C with a supplement.
• Avoid touching your nose, mouth, or eyes.
• Get plenty of rest.

Of course, you can help other people stay healthy, too, by washing your hands after you blow your nose and covering your mouth with a tissue or the inner crook of your elbow when you sneeze. Because let's face it, what goes around comes around -- sooner or later.

What a Wonderful Weekend.

Hello Ladies!!

DAMN YOU LOOK GOOD TODAY....AND EVERY DAY!!! Maybe we should change DYLGT to DYLGTAED, because IT'S SOOOO TRUE!! But I digress!

We (Chicagoland) had a really great weekend. The temps were in the high 40's - low 50's. The sun & temps had a big effect on No. Illinois residents. People came out of their homes with smiles. Instead of parkas folks wore jackets and not one scarf was to be seen!!!!

Maybe you can help me identify something I saw this weekend. Driving, in a relatively rural area (few buildings), I saw this strange "stuff" running along the curb. It was brown-green, furry and everywhere...I'm perplexed! OK, someone told me that it was GRASS!!! As in the lawn type...NOT the kind one might smoke!!! HA! Considering that we haven't see the ground here since the last week of December I'm skeptical. What do you think? :-) We will probably have more snow before spring officially arrives, but these past few days left a promise that spring is coming. A friend in Japan (Uchikawa-san) sent me this cherry blossom photo taken 2/2/09. Apparently spring came early in Japan. Let's hope that we follow suit!!

Yesterday I saw "He's Just Not That Into You." It's a very cute movie, that I highly recommend it to all fans of romantic comedies. Even though the movie is light and, in the end, hopeful (like the promise of spring) it does highlight one unfortunate but real aspect about relationships, and that is how desperate some women (& men) are to find "the one." The movie is loosely based on the book's theme, and both are aimed mostly at women. I have not read the book, but I've learned, from others, that it's lesson is about self respect. If someone is totally into you, you'll know it because they will treat you with the respect you deserve. Anything less and I'm afraid "He's Just Not That Into You." In other words you deserve better so get over it and move on. I think every single/dating woman should read this book. (I intend to)

A NEW ERA

As I type this, I'm listening to Obama's speech. His theme is..."A NEW ERA" That's how I feel about my life. This is a new era for me. It's the era of being the best I can be. I'm ready to get back on track and recommit myself to my health & happiness. YES, it's already the 20th day of the new year...but it's not too late!!! There's plenty of time to start the best year ever!

So What does that mean? For me, it's back to the gym. (I practically stopped in December.) Going to the gym is something that I really, really, really, truly hate. Unfortunately, if I want a new life I have to go. You will be as horrified as I was to know that my doctor told me to increase my work outs to 5-6 days a week... "THAT'S SO HARD!!!" I cried , but Dr Julie told me that it's easier to eat and not exercise. It's easy to gain weight, but it's not easy to live the way I was living before my operation. She's right. Back then I wasn't living. I was just existing. I was so miserable that I didn't even know it!!! Being huge and uncomfortable seemed normal to me, and I didn't know how horrible I felt. When I lost the weight I remembered what it was like to feel good!!! One thing I know is that I'm never going back to that misery. Is there something in your life that you want to change or improve? Well, like Jim Morrison said, "The time to hesitate is through." Now is our time to be the very best DAMN GOOD LOOKING WOMEN we can be!!!
